Gemstone sculpture - Indian on horseback. In private collection
Gemstone sculpture - Indian on horseback
Three solid blocks of agates. Body, horse and clouds. Rider and horse seem to be lost in thoughts of something other than where they are. Are they heading home beat and worn out from a long, hard battle? Or leaving their homelands under edict from outside authority? Or, perhaps, sharing an afternoon roaming aimlessly in the sunset’s glow? Or do the clouds represent their heavenward passage?
Our master carver composed this moment in time of an American Indian with the warmest of agates. There’s something cold in their aimless demeanor, but warm in their easy, familiar movement. Horse and rider are longtime friends and share a long history together.
Height 38 cm.
Width 50 cm
Depth 16 cm
No matter where you reside, this strong carving of a lost people will bring history alive to your home, office or collection.
