Cameo Carving Collection
My extensive studies and passion for minerals have taken me to mines all over the world. Thus, I know both, theoretically and practically where each mineral can be found, how they are retrieved and which characteristics make them more suited for jewelry or carvings. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to develop an exclusive network of craftsmen, artisans to be more exact, who can turn any mineral into a unique piece of art, designed just for you.
The first cameos were carved from stone, dating all the way back to 332 B.C., In Alexandria , Egypt in the 16th Century.
Greek and Roman emperors were immortalized through stone carvings. Artisans would carve Gods and Goddesses, mythological and religious scenes, portraits, and other artistic imagery.
Cameo only referred to works where the relief image was of a contrasting color to the background. This was achieved by carefully carving a piece of material with a flat plane where two contrasting colors met, removing all the first color except for the image to leave a contrasting background. We offer the rarest Cameo Carvings in the World.
