Gemstone Carving-Sea Dog

Gemstone Carving-Sea Dog. The fantastic creature was born from the union of the Ammonite and the Baroque pearl. Ammonites are fossilized marine fossils, according to experts, they are more than 50 million years old, this is an extinct class of cephalopods that existed from the Devonian to the Cretaceous period. They got their name in honor of the ancient Egyptian solar deity Amun of Thebes, depicted with the twisted horns of Aries. For many peoples of the world, the ammonite shell is considered a symbol of happiness and abundance, and in a broader sense - infinity. This copy was brought from the island of Madagascar. Beautiful pattern, the structure of the shell segment articulation resembles seaweed. For about 2.5 years, the artists could not decide the fate of this material. With the advent of the baroque pearl, I saw a unique combination of shapes - bulldog's muzzle and fin. It was decided to make a table composition, mirroring the other side of the dog's head in gray gold, in accordance with the characteristics of the pearl.

The photographs show the obverse and reverse of the work to make it easier to compare the natural shape of pearls with the work of a jeweler. The anatomical features of the animal laid down by Nature were surprisingly manifested. Correctly set cheekbones, eyebrows, muscle tissue, cheeks, upturned nose and well-placed fin! The work of Nature is almost finished, the jewelers only have to finish her plan with dignity! The collar is adorned with cognac diamonds, harmoniously fitting into the overall atmosphere of the piece.

Used materials:

Baroque pearls from the coastal plantations of the South China Sea, ammonite, blue sapphires, cognac diamonds, 750-carat gold (18 k).
