The sculpture, carved in hardstone and substantial in both size and weight, shows a centaur, part man and part beast, as a great hunter. The horse's black body leaps confidently over a rock on its way to the hunt, while the man draws his bow, a fletched arrow pulled back and on target, with more arrows in a quiver on his back. The rock is black swirled with cream, and the man has dark curling hair and a full beard.
Every aspect of the carving depicts force and movement, and the hunter's eye is sure in its determined approach. The details, some small and some full and muscular, carry both the power of the horse and the strength of the man.
Dimensions: 75 × 55 × 35 cm (height × width × depth)
Weight: 35 kg
