The Origin is carved from a single large nugget of pink opal, with all metalwork in gold vermeil, on a base of Brazilian agate. It shows two hearts fused into one.
The work follows a thought about the heart symbol: that the shape drawn for love, which looks nothing like an actual human heart, came from the idea of two human hearts joined together as one.
