Agate Sculpture – Indian on Horseback

$0.00

An American Indian on horseback, carved from three solid blocks of agate: the body, the horse and the clouds. The artist composed this moment in time from the warmest of the agates.

Rider and horse seem lost in thoughts of something other than where they are. They may be heading home worn out from a long, hard battle, or leaving their homelands under edict from outside authority, or sharing an afternoon roaming in the glow of the sunset; the clouds may stand for a heavenward passage. There is something cold in their aimless bearing and something warm in their easy, familiar movement: horse and rider are long-time companions with a long history together.

Materials: agate
Dimensions: 38 × 50 × 16 cm
In private collection.
