Mookaite Sculpture – Listening to the Earth

$0.00

Listening to the Earth is a heart hand-carved from Australian mookaite, Russian obsidian and Peruvian rutilated quartz, on Brazilian agate, with all the metalwork hand-hammered in gold vermeil.

The work carries a text addressed to the Gardener:

Gardener, watch and listen and breathe. See the ever-changing light of your world. Hear the life that calls out to the rising sun and falls silent again at its setting. Breath is the sacred thread, the moving strand that weaves you into the tapestry of life on this Earth. You are not a lonely, separate creature wandering through life, but a child of the Earth Mother, braided into the web as the bird is connected to sky or the whale to sea. You are connected. You are not separate. You are Nature. The garden teaches the way of the wheel: the seed that becomes the fruit, the fruit that feeds and returns to the soil, the soil that transforms into fruit again, turning around the great sun in a dance of opposites, light and dark, hot and cold, growth and decay, birth and death. Nothing exists without its opposite; everything that is happens inside the same sacred hoop, and you are the one who is aware of it all. Be still. Watch. Listen. Breathe.

Materials: Australian mookaite, Russian obsidian, Peruvian rutilated quartz, Brazilian agate, gold vermeil
Dimensions: 30 × 20 × 35 cm
