The Temptation of Eve was created from a single piece of smoky quartz of 30 kg. It takes up the biblical story of human beginnings: the first people in the gardens of Eden, and the first woman, Eve, seduced by a serpent into tasting the forbidden fruit.
The classical form of the sculpture stands for outward and inward harmony, the longing for perfection and the flow of life, sought by denying, repeating and transforming the biblical stories and the wisdom and experience gathered over the ages.
Smoky quartz is held to be a soothing stone, its energy encouraging rest and relaxation, held in the power of the earth; even small pieces are held in the hand to be rid of negativity. The ancient Greeks believed smoky quartz to be an adult rock crystal. A crystal of this size is in itself unusual.
