The sculpture shows Ida Rubinstein in the dance from the ballet Salome. The dancer is carved in mid-movement, one knee to the ground and the other leg extended, both arms raised and her long hair swept back; she wears a jewelled headband, crossed straps set with a cabochon and a gold skirt gathered by a tasselled cord. It is worked in smalt, belomorite, Madagascar jasper and flint, with gold, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and opal. The piece belongs to the 'Fabergé unreleased' project.
