A carousel music box. Carved animals ride on slender poles beneath a domed canopy: among them elephants, a peacock with its tail spread, a big cat and a bird with open wings. The canopy is panelled in alternating segments, edged with small round cabochons and crowned with a pierced finial. The animals stand on a round platform above a stepped, many-sided base set with square stone panels and rows of cabochons, and short flights of steps lead up to it; the metalwork is worked throughout in fine scrolling ornament.
The music box plays the tune It's a Small World.
