A surprise egg worked in filigree, made in gold-plated silver and set with lapis lazuli, ruby, labradorite, turquoise and malachite. It is also a music box, and it plays It's a Small World.

The piece was made to draw attention to the old traditions, disciplines and techniques, among them the art of gemstone carving, that are often dying out. It is meant as an offering to nature, in gratitude for such materials, and as a reminder of the family values and traditions that hold people together: minerals and crystals were formed over hundreds and even thousands of years, and the most beautiful things in life are still the ones that take time to come about.
