Ruby & Obsidian Sculpture – Ferrari 643, 1:8 Scale
A model of the Ferrari 643 Formula One car at 1:8 scale, 60 cm long, hand-crafted from ruby and obsidian on a rock crystal base, with the metalwork made by hand in gold vermeil. The chassis and the tyres can be removed to show the engine and the brakes. The work took 13 months to finish and is titled Tribute to Alain Prost with Scuderia Ferrari.
The Ferrari 643 was designed by Steve Nichols and Jean-Claude Migeot and built by Scuderia Ferrari for the 1991 Formula One season; it was built in May and introduced at the French Grand Prix. It was driven by the French driver Alain Prost during his rivalry with Senna.
