Agate & Chrysoprase Sculpture – Toad (Wealth Keeper)
Wealth Keeper is a toad holding a coin, a carving that combines agate with chrysoprase. The toad is shown thoughtful, with a spark of light in its eyes.
In ancient Asian cultures, and in Chinese culture in particular, the toad has long been respected: for ages it was believed to bring much-needed rain and to be a sign of luck. In Feng Shui it is counted among the most fortunate animals in symbolism, bound up with wealth, good luck, fertility and longevity, and the pairing of the two stones shows the toad also as a symbol of rebirth and prosperity.
Both stones are cleaned with warm soapy water, agate with a soft brush and chrysoprase with a soft cloth. Agate is a quartz, so nothing harder than the stone itself should be used on it; chrysoprase should be kept away from harsh household chemicals and from prolonged direct sunlight, which fades its colour, though some faded colour may be recovered through dark, moist storage.
Materials: agate, chrysoprase
Dimensions: 13 × 12 × 13 cm
