The specimen has an unusual blocky shape and is almost entirely covered by a well-preserved fusion crust with a pronounced surface texture. These features make this meteorite fragment not only scientifically valuable but also a visually striking natural object of extraterrestrial origin.
An exceptional 3.976 kg specimen of Vaquillas 007, an officially recognized meteorite discovered in the Atacama Desert, Chile, in November 2023.
Vaquillas 007 is classified as an HED achondrite — unbrecciated eucrite. The official find consists of three fully crusted stones with a combined Total Known Mass (TKW) of 11.41 kg.
The meteorite was officially approved by the Meteoritical Society on 24 April 2024 and published in Meteoritical Bulletin No. 113 (2025).
